What should I do if some of my baggage is missing or damaged?
If you are still at the airport
To ensure greater agility in your analysis process, you must approach our LATAM team in the baggage claim area so that the damage can be immediately verified and the claim formalized. We will ask for your passport or identity document, boarding pass, and the checked baggage receipt (the tag we give you when you check your baggage).
If you have already left the AIRPORT:
You can contact us via our WhatsApp, within 7 days after your trip. In these cases, since on-site verification has not been carried out, the claim will be registered, a specific assessment will be made, and a response will be provided within the legal timeframe. Remember that you will also need your boarding pass and the checked baggage receipt (the tag we give you when you check your baggage) so that we can carry out a correct verification.
Damage arising from normal or pre-existing baggage handling
LATAM Airlines is not responsible for the wear and tear that may occur during the natural movement of baggage in the airport process or inside the aircraft hold (small cuts, scratches or the absence of items that do not compromise its use, such as logos, key chains, padlocks), for damage caused by excess content or weight (broken closures), inadequate packaging, or pre-existing damage to baggage, even if it is wrapped or protected by baggage covers that are not clear, such as Protect Bag/Safety Bag or any other wrap that would not allow for checking actual baggage conditions.
Do you have an Apple AirTag?
If you have an Apple AirTag in your delayed baggage, share your location with us so that we can manage the report in the best possible way. You must have an open report and its corresponding code.
At first, you must authorize location sharing by accessing the AirTag settings and copy the given link.
Then, visit our Self-service web page and access your report by selecting “Manage an existing report”, where you can paste the copied link.
