Will my baggage always be delivered directly to my final destination?
If all your flights are under the same reservation code, you normally do not need to collect your baggage during a connection. Even if you change aircraft, your baggage is transferred by the airport and you collect it only at your final destination.
Check the following cases and exceptions:
International flight to international flight connections
Your baggage is transferred by the airport and you collect it only at your final destination.
Except in the following cases:
- Connections in Cancún (CUN)
- Connections in Punta Cana (PUJ)
- Connections in Montego Bay (MBJ)
- Connections in the United States
International flight to domestic flight connections
You must collect your baggage and check it again at the connecting airport.
Except in the following cases:
- Connection at Mexico City Benito Juarez Airport (MEX)
- Connections within the Schengen Area in Europe
- Traveling from the United States to Colombia with a domestic connection
In these cases, you do not need to collect your baggage, as it will be tagged through to the final destination.
Domestic flight to international flight connections
Your baggage is transferred by the airport and you collect it only at your final destination.
Except in the following cases:
- Connections in Lima with airlines other than Delta and Iberia
- Connections in Santiago de Chile with Air France and KLM
- Connections in Quito with American Airlines
- Connections in Montego Bay (MBJ)
LATAM route between Sao Paulo (GRU) and Boston (BOS) operated by Delta
In this case, you will need to check your baggage, included and/or purchased, at Delta counters.
The baggage included in your LATAM fare, as well as any additional baggage you purchased for your flight, will be automatically maintained with the change of operator to Delta.
Learn more about interline baggage pricing in the section Flights between LATAM and other airlines (interline).
Important: We recommend paying close attention to crew instructions, as on some routes, the local authority may conduct a baggage inspection.
