What are Qualifying Points?
Qualifying Points are the measurement system used by LATAM Pass, the LATAM group's loyalty program, to assign Elite categories to program members. Other methods, such as agreements with credit cards associated with the program or a subscription to the LATAM Pass Club, are also available.
Each Elite category (Gold, Platinum, Black and Black Signature) has a specific Qualifying Points target. To achieve an Elite category without credit card agreements or a LATAM Pass Club subscription, you simply need to reach the Qualifying Points target, which will grant you the corresponding category. Elite categories come with exclusive benefits, and the higher the category, the more and better benefits.
Qualifying Points can be earned by flying or purchasing LATAM products and services such as seats, baggage or LATAM Travel. You can also earn points by purchasing from LATAM group partners such as Booking, and in some cases, by using credit cards associated with the LATAM Pass program.
How are they calculated?
They are calculated based on the dollars spent on ticket purchases and related expenses at the exchange rate at the time of purchase, excluding taxes and fees. The amount earned depends on a multiplier determined by your trip’s destination, i.e., whether your flight is domestic or international.
In Brazil, Qualifying Points are calculated in reais for domestic flights and in dollars for international flights.
For Elite category qualification, Qualifying Points accumulated during a calendar year, from January to December, are considered.
