When do I have the right to request a full refund of my ticket?

As a passenger, you have the right to request a full refund of your ticket as long as your trip has not started. Keep in mind that if you purchased through an agency, you must contact them directly to review your refund options.

Check the rules and regulations of each country to learn about the conditions for requesting your refund.

 

Right of Withdrawal in the United States

You may request the cancellation of your purchase when:

  • Any ticket purchased through United States sales channels, regardless of the route.
  • You submit the request within the first 24 hours after purchasing your ticket.
  • The ticket was purchased at least 7 days before the flight date.

Right of withdrawal in Chile

For domestic travel within Chile, you may request a refund under the Right of Withdrawal when: 

  • The flight departure date is between 7 and 179 days after the purchase date and the request is made within 48 hours of purchase.
  • The flight departure date is 180 days or more after the purchase date and the request is made within 7 days of purchase.

If the ticket was purchased through an agency, you must contact them to request the refund. If that is not possible, go to Create a case, select the category “Refund of tickets issued by agencies” and complete the required information.

For international travel:
Although the regulation does not establish the Right of Withdrawal for international flights, LATAM accepts withdrawal requests made within 24 hours of purchase and at least 7 days before the flight departure date and time.
 

To request a refund for your international ticket, go to My Trips in the Ticket refund section. If you meet the conditions described above, you will be eligible for a full refund of the amount paid, without penalty. 

 

Resolution No. 400 of the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC)

The terms of the Resolution will apply provided that:

  • The ticket was purchased in Brazil.
  • You submit the request within the first 24 hours after purchasing your ticket. 
  • The ticket was purchased at least 7 days before the date of the first flight.

619 Normative Peru and Ecuador

This applies to purchases made through all channels, provided you did not purchase a promotional fare and you make a claim at least 72 hours before your flight.

The airline is entitled to retain 10% of the fare.

Right of withdrawal or rescission in Colombia 

The Right of Withdrawal may be requested provided that:

  • The ticket was purchased through any sales channel within Colombia, for domestic and international flights.
  • You exercise this right within 5 business days from purchase, provided that the first flight does not occur within that timeframe. 

To request a refund under the Right of Withdrawal, go to My trips in the Ticket refund section. If the ticket was purchased through an agency, go to Create a case, select the category “Refund of tickets issued by agencies” and complete the required information.

The Right to Cancel Purchase will apply when the ticket fare is Full or Standard and is requested from the time of purchase and up to 24 hours before the flight. The carrier may retain 10% of the fare value.

Decision 619 regulation on cancellation in Peru and Ecuador

Applies when:

  • The ticket fare is Full or Standard, purchased through any sales channel, provided it was purchased in Ecuador or Peru.
  • It is exercised up to 72 hours before the flight. 

    The carrier may retain 10% of the fare value.

Right of withdrawal in Ecuador

 Applies to:

  • Commercial and award tickets (unused) issued in Ecuador, whether domestic or international. 
  • Flight add-ons associated with the purchase.
  • You exercise this right within 48 hours after purchase, provided that the first flight does not depart within 48 hours from the purchase date. 
     

The refund amount will be credited to your LATAM Wallet.

Right of withdrawal in Uruguay 

Applies to:

  • Trips purchased on our website, LATAM App or through our Contact Center within Uruguay.
  • The timeframe to use the Right of Withdrawal is 5 business days from the time of purchase and before the flight departure.

Right of withdrawal in Argentina

Applies to:

  • Trips purchased on our website, LATAM App or through our Contact Center.
  • The timeframe to request a refund under the Right of Revocation is 10 calendar days from the purchase date, or before the departure of the first flight in the reservation, whichever occurs first, provided that your fare conditions allow refunds, in accordance with Article 19 of Decree 809/2024. 

As an additional benefit to provide greater flexibility, LATAM accepts refund requests for non-refundable fares, provided they are made within 24 hours after purchase and at least 7 days before the flight departure date and time.

Purchases from travel agencies or other websites

You must contact them directly to review your refund options. If you purchased in Chile or Colombia, you must create a case:
