How does check-in work, and when is it automatic?

What is Check-in?

Check-in is the process you need to complete to get your boarding pass. To complete it, we need your document information to be up to date and, depending on your destination, you may need to enter other required details for your trip.

Check-in becomes available 48 hours before each flight. If we have all the necessary information before then, we will complete it automatically for you. If any details are missing, you will need to complete Check-in on your own up to 2 hours before your flight departure.

If you purchased at latam.com:

  • Domestic flights within Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador or Peru: Since you entered the necessary information when you made your purchase, no additional action is needed. We will complete your Check-in automatically 48 hours before your flight.

  • Domestic flights within Chile: Starting September 1, 2026, due to changes in local regulations, we need your details and documentation to be up to date before completing your Check-in. If they are already updated in Your LATAM account, we will be able to do it automatically. If not, you will need to confirm your documentation on our website or app after purchasing your ticket so we can complete your Check-in.
  • International flights: After your purchase, review and confirm the required details for your trip based on your destination on our website or app. If you confirm them before the 48 hours leading up to your flight, we will complete your Check-in automatically and you will be able to get your boarding pass. If any details are missing, you will need to complete Check-in on your own up to two hours before your flight to get your pass.

If you purchased through a travel agency or another website:

After your purchase, you will need to review and confirm the required details for your trip. We will complete your Check-in automatically 48 hours before your trip.

You can do this in My trips, at latam.com or in the LATAM Airlines app. If any details are missing, you will need to complete Check-in on your own up to two hours before your flight to get your pass.

If your itinerary has more than one flight

You only need to confirm the details for the first flight and they will be saved. For your next flights, we will complete Check-in automatically 48 hours before each departure time.

What happens if I have a flight with another airline?

If you have a flight with Delta, you can complete Check-in on our website for all your flights. In these cases, you will need to do it 24 hours before traveling.

If you have a flight with another airline, you will need to go to Check-in at latam.com. There, we will give you the information to continue the process on the corresponding airline’s website.

Do I need my boarding pass?

You can obtain it on the LATAM Airlines App or on our website by going to My Trips.

On the day of your flight, arrive at the airport with your valid travel document. If you are traveling with a small bag, you can go directly to the boarding gate with your ID card or passport.

If you have your boarding pass on your phone, you will be able to see the updated gate number. If you are traveling with checked baggage, go to our self-service kiosk to print and tag your bags, then drop them off at the self-service bag drop machine or at the LATAM counter.
