Problem with flights in Bogota
Currently, Bogota's El Dorado airport has an over-demand of flights at certain hours that exceed the airport's operational capacity. In view of this scenario, the Aerocivil has frequently implemented the Ground Delay Program, which seeks to regulate the operation, but usually generates delays or rescheduling of itineraries for domestic and international flights.
What is the Ground Delay Program?
The Ground Delay Program or GDP (Ground Delay Program) is a tool created to regulate the demand for flights that are above an airport's operating capacity in a given time slot.
When is the Ground Delay Program applied?
The measure is usually applied in situations where the operation is affected by extreme circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or lack of aeronautical personnel.
In Colombia, since May 29, the Aerocivil has implemented the Ground Delay Program on a regular basis to respond mainly to the overdemand generated by non-scheduled and state aviation.
How can I find out if my flight has been affected by the Ground Delay Program?
To find out if your flight is one of those affected by the Ground Delay Program, we recommend that you check the status of your flight before going to the airport in the My trips section.
